Ljubljana City Tour

You can take a half day guided trip around Ljubljana. There are many agencies offering private tourist guiding. THE GORENJSKA REGION

Radovljica and Bled

One of the most popular attractions in Slovenia is Bled Lake and its island in the middle. Therefore, it is a great opportunity for a half day business trip. We recommend the beginning at the Museum Lectar, only 5 minutes away, where you can see in person how the traditional Lect heart is made and where you can have a delicious lunch.

After lunch, you can visit Lake Bled and take the boat »pletna« to visit the church on the island (do not forget to ring the bell for good luck). After that, you should try Bled’s famous dessert called Blejska kremšnita or Bled cream cake.

COAST REGION

The Slovenian Karst

Karst or Kras region, which is quite close to Ljubljana, offers many possibilities for daily trips. You can visit Škocjan caves, go for lunch in a traditional Karst restaurant and try traditional local food, such as the famous Karst dry-cured ham. After that, you can visit Lipica and its white premium horses “Lipizzaners”. To end the perfect day, you can visit the 150-year-old vine cellar in Sežana and taste different types of local premium vine. You can combine it also with a carriage ride.

Coast and Salt Pans

A day escape to the coast offers you and your business partners many activities. You can visit the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, where you can visit the Museum of Salt-making, which shows the traditional medieval method of producing salt. Later, you can visit Piran, a romantic old city, where you can have lunch in a local old restaurant and go wine tasting to local wine cellars. There are also other interesting places to visit, such as Strunan Cliff, Ankaran Shells, an oil processing touristic farm or go on a ship tour along the coastline. You can also combine the coast trip with activities on Karsts, because these areas are very close to each other.

PODRAVSKA REGION

Maribor and surroundings

Maribor is the second biggest town in Slovenia, so it offers many activities. You can go for a walk through the centre and the old part of the town – Lent, which is along the river Drava and is known by the world’s oldest wine. There you can enjoy lunch and later a walk on Kalvaria – a hill with 455 stoned steps with a magnificent view of Maribor. Everything is in half to one-hour walking distance. If you do not like steps, you can choose Pohorje hill, known for Zlata Lisica skiing competition (the Golden Fox) and take the gondola to the top of the hill.

Maribor surroundings are known for the wine tradition, so you also can explore that part of it. For example, just half on hour away, there is a wine path with a good restaurant and a beautiful view of the heart-shaped road.

POMURSKA REGION

In Prekmurje, you can start your trip at the love island and its Babic mill in Veržej – the last still preserved floating mill on the Mura River or take the Mura Ferry through the river. Later, you can visit Filovci village, known for its pottery. There are many local tourist farms which offer lunches, so do not forget to try the famous “gibanica” dessert. Prekmurje is also known for pumpkin seed oil, so do not be surprised to see pumpkins fields all around you. If you prefer sport activities, you can choose a relaxing walk to the meeting point of the four countries.

SAVINJSKA REGION

Rogaška Slatina

The area of Rogaška Slatina is an area of diversity. You can go on a day trip to Rogaška Glassworks, which is one of the best known brands in the world. Their touristic tour will show you how glass is made. Rogaška Slatina offers many premium wines, so you can go wine tasting in their local wine cellars. After lunch, you can visit Paviljon Kaktej (The Pavilion of Cacti) to see the cactus collection and go for a walk through Rogaška Slatina, which is known for mineral water, healthy water springs and many wellness spa centers.

Olimje

You can enjoy a half day trip from Terme Olimje to the Chocolate shop and Monastery Olimje, which are close to each other. After that, we recommend going to Jelenov Greben, known for deer and a delicious restaurant on top.

If you want to expand your trip, you can visit a wine cellar and taste different types of local wines. Because this is a wine-growing area, you will hear many interesting stories.

SOUTH EAST REGION

Kostanjevica na Krki and Repnicas

Dolenjska is approximately one hour away from Ljubljana. You can visit Kostanjevica na Krki, a city surrounded by river Krka, visit its monastery and Forma Viva gallery. After lunch, you can go to the half on hour remoted Brežice and visit the Viteška hall, with its unique frescoes and “repnicas” in Bizeljsko, where in the past, farmers would store their home produced food. Bizeljsko is also known for wine tourism.

GORIŠKA REGION

Goriška Brda is a very popular touristic location. There are different possibilities for daily trips. We recommend visiting the Solkan Bridge – the biggest railway stone bridge in the world. After that, you may visit beautiful vineyards and small cities, namely Gonjače, Biljane (where a Slovenian popular TV show was filmed), Dobrovo (beautiful castle) or Šmartno. After a “briški” lunch (Tourist Farm Belica or Restaurant Kobjeglava), we recommend to visit local winemakers or fruit growers, where you can taste different types of Slovenian traditional wines.
