International education in Slovenia

There are a few schools (mostly private) which provide international education programs for foreign national children (in foreign languages). These programs are internationally recognized and certified, which means that pupils/students can continue schooling anywhere abroad and their education will still be recognized.

ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRAMME

International elementary and secondary school programs for children of foreign nationals are possible at the following schools:

  • Danila Kumar International School in Ljubljana (IB world school) – a state owned school, offering international kindergarten, elementary and secondary school program. Lessons are delivered in English language for children aged 3 to 14.
  • QSI International School of Ljubljana (American International School) – a private, non-profit institution offering elementary and secondary school program. Lessons are delivered in English language for children aged 3 to 17.
  • École française in Ljubljana – a private school providing the same program as French primary schools. Lessons are delivered in French language.
  • British International School of Ljubljana – a private school offering pre-school, primary and secondary school program. Lessons are delivered in English language for children aged 3 to 15.

International baccalaureate programs under the IBO system, where English is the main language, are possible at:

  • International school Gimnazija Bežigrad in Ljubljana(IB world school): It offers different programs as MYP five-year program for students aged 11-16 years, IB two – year diploma program for students 16 to 19 years. Lessons are delivered in English language.
  • Gimnazija Maribor in Maribor (IB world school): It offers different programs, such as the National grammar school program (four-year program) and international baccalaureate diploma (two-year program).
  • Gimnazija Kranj (IB world school): Offers IB Diploma program (two-year program).

TIME FRAME

Children need to be enrolled in February for the following school year in the school district of permanent or temporary residence.

FEES

Public schools are free of charge. Private schools have different tuitions (depending on school).

TERTIAL EDUCATION
